Shirin's Ride: Children's Ride
Shirin Lockman was a very special soul with whom people felt an instant connection. She was a loving
mother and grandmother, whose greatest joy in life was to spend time with her two young grandsons.
She was born in 1933 in India, the oldest of 6 children. Shirin received a scholarship to study
medicine in Heidelberg, Germany, and lived in the United States, Scotland, London, and Germany
working as a psychiatrist and raising her daughter, Shahin. She retired in 1999 and moved from
Germany to Brookline to live near her family and help care for her grandson. She also continued
her passion for learning and for creating beautiful artwork after moving, and was a well-loved
member of the Brookline Baha'i community. She battled with ALS for more than 3 years, with unspeakable
courage, humor and dignity, and passed away on November 1, 2005. She is and will always be greatly
missed by her family and friends.
